The risk is too great that one may find its way into a nice Boeing or Douglas where it should not be. For gawds sake, don't use one in the wrong application in your homebuilt aircraft. If you can open a beer with your teeth you can chew up an "A" rivet. And if you can't form a proper head on a -24 AD rivet you'd better find someone who can. Maybe try a Cherry Max instead, tho the feds won't like it. As for using stupid glue (Loctite), it's never calculated in the joint strength. One good hi freak blow will shatter it totally. Shear is dependent on the size and strength of the fastener used. Enhancements such as a light drive fit, faying compound and so forth really do help but adhesive strengths are so hard to calculate that it's best left to the big guys. I don't care how much pull it may take to fail a p-p tube end fitting in shear in a test rig; corrosion, time and repeated shocks can and do take their toll. The failure you don't want is the one in the air with you at the controls!
