Regarding insurance, the last time I checked with
Avemco a few months ago before the rumors about them
stopping to insure new Lancairs, the minimum pilot
requirements they wanted to see was frmo a formula:
Total time + Complex + Tail dragger + Type = 1500 hrs.

Sounds quite logical to me that we should have a
similar formula for our insurance-association since
flying a small cessna for 1500 hrs. is not going to be
of much help in mastering any of the Lancair models.
And flying in type would count for three times the
amount of time (Total, Complex, Type). Low-time pilots
(like me) could be given a longer check-out time,
flying with an Instructor for XX number of hours or
something of the sort.

Oh and by the way Dave, count us in for your
association.
