It has a watch battery that maintains memory and can be programmed for multiple on/off times each day or on given days of the week or month. While this won't turn it on now if you decide that you want to fly in 3-4 hours, it will allow you to set it to come on anytime you like or on nearly any day. I do not like to leave oil heaters on for extented periods, so I have it turn mine on at 1AM for a early morning flight, so a/c is ready to go. I also recommend buying small ceramic or other heater with thermostat and leave in cockpit during cold weather. This allows gyro instruments to be warm and is better for leather seats and other stuff( not to mention your bod).
