I have some experience in this area as our insurance carrier has approved me to provide recurrent instruction for our aircraft. This approval came after providing a syllabus specific to this procedure. I am not the builder but maintain our aircraft through my A&P IA certificates. Please allow me to add a couple of caveats: 1. Do not create requirements that are in excess of those necessary to satisfy specific requirements from the insurance carrier or very specific requirements for the safety of flight. This applies to pilot history, proficiency and maintenance considerations. I have seen this type of noble gesture backfire on 135 operators a number of times. 2. In addition to recurrent pilot training, on going airworthiness methodology is the area I perceive to have the most impact on the viablilty of the L-IV/IVP fleet. Considering the model's speed, type of builders and owners along with the wide spread coverage around the globe, the single largest challenge I see is providing conformity and maintenance documentation on specific aircraft to the A&P's & IA's who will need to provide service to his fleet as it moves around the globe. I feel it will seldom be the builder providing these services as the fleet matures.
