We still had them in the T-38 days.  The one thing to remember is to have the blade facing towards you.  If you don't, the curved cutting edge will deflect off the canopy and you'll drive the tool into your head.

No, I've never used one, but I still remember the admonition.  I guess maybe those military-style training techniques work, eh?
