Grant,
 I e-mailed these guys and asked if the tool you mentioned could break
plexiglass.  Here's the reply I got:

"The lifehamer is designed only for laminated glass that is used for
automobiles. Plexiglass, which is solid plastic, will not break with its use.
We can not recommend this product for the application you mention."
