Regarding flying home with a window missing, keep in mind that the plane was
broken in Oregon, based in California and was flyable.  There was no one up
there that could fix the damage.  The pilot waited for good weather, then
flew home low and slow and is now well on the way to replacing his window.
He told me that other than the noise, the ferry flight home was a non-event.
