Ed, the Facet had better pump thru when de-energized since I'm using one a
for my back-up engine fuel pump (in series with the mechanical pump on the
engine) and it gets turned off when at altitude. Seriously, they do
pump-thru (mine's been doing so for 600+ hours) and I believe they also have
a built-in check valve so you can probably go either way. I think it's
actually part of how they pump.
FWIW, I have two Facets in series for fuel transfer and use a left-right
wing tank selector valve to select which tank is tapped. I added the second
pump after I had one fail early on. I wired the second one in parallel so
they're both on when transfering fuel. During my pre-flight, I turn the
switch on momentarily and I can tell from the sound if they're both running
(makes a distinctive sound).
