It has never prevented me from retracting the gear on takeoff or go around (probably because the AOA would be screaming at me with so low an airspeed). I have installed a "squat defeat" switch next to the gear locked lights. Its a push-on push-off switch which provides a red backlight displaying the "Squat Sw Defeat" message when on. This would be useful if there is an in-flight problem with the air switch, but is most useful when checking the gear operation on jacks. That way, I don't have to blow in the cold pitot tube or get two interns to evenly suck on the bi-lateral static ports to raise the gear.
