He's saved my marriage. When it's cold, my wife's inordinately attractive backside is nearly frozen by the icy blast beneath the copilot's seat. So, taking Gordon's advice, I bought a square foot of wet suit material from a local dive shop along with the contact cement recommended by the proprietor. The holes for the aileron and flap tubes and the gear door actuator are now sealed perfectly. I test hopped the airplane without the seat in, and the area is virtually draft free. Just a couple of process comments. First, while the rubber is very flexible and does not bind the controls even slightly, I applied some silicone spray where the rubber meets the tubes. This will lubricate without damaging the rubber. Second, contact cement instantly adheres when treated surfaces touch. So, I placed waxed paper between the cockpit closeout rib and the rubber while in the process of moving the rubber into the proper position. When alinged, I pulled the wax paper out and bonded the surfaces. Easy! Gordon, call me when you are next in San Francisco. I owe you a dinner.
