I have read the posts regarding insurance and homebuilts with interest,
particularly in light of insurability.  Seems to me homebuilts, those who hire
it out, and those who built commercial all seem equally adept at thinning the
gene pool by doing what seems on the surface to be really bad ideas, i.e., known
operational deficiencies, inadequate fuel margins, weather, and so on.

I can't blame insurers.  I pay frightening amounts of surgical malpractice
premium because there are a few guys out there who seem to screw up way more
than the "average".  In fact, it dawns on me that the errors they commit may be
equally mortal, but affect the other guy, hence they can keep repeating the
same.  That is not the case with CFIT and so on.

So whose to blame?  Introspection is the hardest view in my book.
