My IV-P was done by a third party who is in the business of painting airplanes. The material was PPG. After a major fuel leak at the fuel probe we discovered that the blue dye in 100LL had gone all the way to the base coat and even abrasive compounds will not remove the stain. It was a major pain to resand down to the clear and even into the primer and reapply a base coat. This time I got an expert opinion from a friend that worked at Sherwin Williams. I was told that the mixture for the hardener and other solvants used in the PPG paints was responsible for it. It was a mess. The base coat apparently does not dry completely and remains soluble (for ever?). My new clear coat (as applied to the areas that were repaired) is now fuel dye tolerant.
