I've had great luck with my WX 950.  I had the plane mapped.  It took about
an hour.  The antenna  ended up between the forward part of the gear doors.
I've flown in the area of several storms, one which showed 95 strikes per
minute.  It's amazing how lightning storms can propagate, sometimes nearly
200 mph for brief periods.  Don't get close.  Twenty five miles is my
absolute minimum clearance.
