Gentlemen:

I was looking for some of the expert advice the LML is known for as to the idea of using Magnum or one of the similar engine mod firms to tune the TSIO 550 engine.

As you know they change the cam, tune the ports and increase the compression with different pistons, ceramic coating etc.   The benefit is increased horsepower (400 HP) and a smoother engine.

I wonder if anyone has an opinion as to the value of this mod and whether it hurts reliability.   Also I wonder if the increased HP really does any good since in cruise we fly at 65% anyway?

Any thoughts?
