My first post to the list so go easy.

I wanted to point out a new Air Conditioning system for L4P's that will be at OSH. It has NO scoop and is enclosed in the tail. The pump is on the engine and the system weighs about 45 lbs. The first flying aircraft is just being completed at Griffin upholstery but was flown and tested out before it was upholstered. I can't remember the N number but if you ask at the Lancair tent for Mike Custard they will probably know where it is.

I have this system installed in my L4P but it's not flying yet. I am the first customer and not the seller. I'm just making this known.

I wanted one that would work on the ground and not have a scoop to slow the plane down when not in use. We used a fan on the condenser in the tail so that forward speed is not needed. The fan pulls air in the NACA scoop in the tail and blows it out a 4 in. hole in the bottom. The weight is about evenly balanced with the engine pump up front and the weight in behind the extended baggage compartment. The evaporator is mounted on the top of the rear bulkhead and blows straight out taking air in the sides. No ball vents were needed since the air blows forward overhead. I'm told they will be taking orders at OSH. Tests showed full fan speed was only used on the ground in hi 80* temps.. I'm still waiting for real hot weather results which they should have at OSH.

Excited, Jim Hergert
