I have never had the Jeffco or any other hardener change color.  I keep it in the plastic bottle it is shipped with and pour directly from the bottle into the mixing cup which I place on my digital scale (sounds like a lot of work but it isn't).

Since my garage has always been either too hot (Mojave desert or Phoenix summers) or too cold (Cleveland or Lompoc CA winters -- even Mojave desert winters) I keep the epoxy in a cardboard box on a shelf in my laundry room which is right next to the garage.  It stays at room temperature and never sees the sun.  I bring it in the garage when I am working with it and put it back as I clean up at the end of the day.

I keep my epoxy for one year only.  (Maybe it will last longer but why take chances?)  I write the month and year on the bottle when it arrives.  I fold the tops of an appropriately sized cardboard box down and just toss the bottles in the box.  You want a box that won't allow the bottle to fall on its side.  As I use the stuff, I invariably get dribbles of resin and hardener down the outside of their respective bottles -- they get sticky on the outside and the box gets sticky on the inside.  Usually I run out of epoxy before one year runs out, and I just toss the box and empty bottles away and start over.  I wear latex gloves when I grab the bottles out of the box, but I only do that when I'm about to do a layup anyway.

I suppose I could have dribbles of hardener mix with dribbles of resin and glue the bottles together, but that hasn't happened yet....
