Finally!!
An airconditioner that works well and costs less than 5 kias at 17000'. I have installed the new Airflow Systems carbon fiber scoop on Dairy Queen. It is windtunnel tested, and with the lower weight components, find that it cools well on the ground at nearly 100 deg F. @ 1000RPM. More surprisingly, the airspeed penalty was less than 5 kias at 17000ft. On the initial X/C flight from Daytona to Texarkana AR, we were meeting strong headwinds at 22000' and buildups were gathering. But below, the bases were 8000' in the hot, and humid air. I asked for lower and we cruised in the cool below the clouds in a cool and confortable cabin. I wouldn't have attempted this prior to installing the A/C.
I will be offering demo flights at OSH to interested parties. Charlie
