AV Gas is limited to I believe 7 psi Reid Vapor pressure, where Motor fuels vapor pressure varies by season, by grade, and by mfgr. So, your two experiences with 91 Octane was indeed due to vapor lock due to heat soak while taxing which allowed vapor to boil out of the gasoline. The control of Av Gas is supposed to be much more strict in handling, in mfgr, transport, and dispencing. The refinery types could give you a more thorough discussion this entire subject, but suffice to say "my butt & engine have to be worth it" especially with the higher compression ratio engines. Saw some press on the new Superior Experimental XP-360 looks interesting as it is designed for 91 Octane, although lets see how well it does in the field...
