The mains when replaced were not bald, but the grooves in the tread were wearing thin. I noticed at a Lancair labor day fly in several yrs. ago many of the iv-p's there had very worn tires with only 60 hrs or so on McCreary's. I had the same type of Goodyear tires on a Bonanza that I owned before the Lancair and they wore very well. Wheel well clearance may not be adequate of you switch to a different tire.
