Having just finished a 40 hour fly off on a IV-P I can only comment that regardless of the FAA rules I would advise that you NOT take passengers during the initial 40 hours because that is where all the problems will show up and be addressed. Having had landing gear problems, engine failures, avionics problems and all the rest of the things which crop up, I know that exposing passengers to this is risky...if you ever want them to fly with you in the future that it!
