Marc: I agree with Marv on the avionics and stuff that doesn't want to sit
around for 4-5 years (strobes, gyros, etc.) But as a Glasair owner, I am really
happy I bought the whole kit at one time -- I paid less overall (the costs
always increase) and I don't have to wait 2 years for parts to be produced since
the #%@%^! company decided to eject. This can happen to anyone in these aviation
unfriendly times.

One other thing:  ensure you understand the full costs of the project. Kit,
engine and tools aren't the whole picture. If you finance it, what will
insurance be for liability and full hull coverage? The figure will make images
of ground-bound Lancairs dance in your head. That's IF they insure you...

What does a hangar cost? What's the waiting period? What's the possibility that
the airport will even be there in 5 years? The IV-P is a beautiful aircraft, but
there's no way I could afford it -- even if I could.

Also, make sure you're not one of those people that breaks out in hives when you
think about epoxy and fiberglass. Play with the stuff for awhile. Good Luck!
