Your operating limitations should state something along the lines that you must notify ATC of the experimental nature of the aircraft.

In the AIM 4-2-4, Aircraft Call Signs, item 3, example 2 states:

"Breezy Six One Three Romeo Experimental (Omit "Experimental" after initial contact.)"

I know many people will just say "Experimental One Two Three Delta" as many controllers won't know what a Lancair is.

Question...When identifying yourself to ground, tower, approach, etc., is it a requirement that you say you are an experimental Lancair?
The local tower doesn't care and there seems to be some confusion amongst the local pilot community.
