MkII=2C 4 y= ears ago=2C was the possibility of taking off with the canopy unlatched. Mine would "stick" down and look latched when it wasn't at all. When I rebuilt my instrument panel=2C all glass=2C things were pretty torn = up and I took advantage of the openness to install a micro sw=2C like on th= e gear=2C from Lancair back at the transverse rod that rotates to close the= canopy dogs. =20 The 1/2" red light is above the pilots EFIS=2C and will not go out until th= e handle is over-center LATCHED. The light cannot be missed on takeoff ro= ll. In hind sight=2C I don't know why I waited so long. I thought the switchin= g would be tricky. It was=2C and is=2C not at all. If you uncover the tra= nsverse activation tube/rod=2C you will see a direct mount for the switch o= n the fiberglass and a "trigger" already a part of the rod. (I also included warning lights for pitot heat failed=2C voltage regulator/= alternator failed=2C Dynon EMS items out of limits=2C battery left on at sh= ut down=2C and gear not extended warning. Three reds above EFIS and 2 amb= er at CB panel on right.) Lights are only 5 bucks at Spruce (gear warn horn also takes a reed switch = from Lancair) and are all off a new CB=3B but just a life saving canopy lig= ht could be tapped off of any appropriate CB and a 1 amp fuse installed in = series.
