As many of you know, I experienced engine failure and landed on GA 400 in 2011 (http://flightaware.com/photos/view/266518-a663d31a8e425917a76109eae46b8235dbd7f742).  Yes, that is the back of my head in the flight jacket looking truly annoyed.  What with 8 months held up by the NTSB, moving into a new home (and storing the airframe in my garage), and a myriad of other of life's intrusions I am finally to a place where I have decided to at least offer the airframe for someone looking for a project.

Most Probable Cause of Engine Failure according to evidence and NTSB:  Fuel contamination.  Inconclusive as they were unwilling to spend the money for extensive tests when no civilian injuries or property damage were involved.

So here is the situation.  The left wheel broke off at the pivot pins (staying airborne to get past that SUV that pulled out at the last minute bled off my flare airspeed, stalled about 3' up and hit left wheel first); banged the left wingtip; slight damage to rudder and flaps and belly.  The estimate to repair the fiberglass by one of the leading Lancair guys was a bit over $6,000 in parts / paint / epoxy plus about 200 hours of labor (which included removing and re-installing the engine and a small allocation for flight testing).  It is non-trivial; however it is only a very small fraction of what building an entire plane was and at the end you would have a "brand new" L320/L360.  Since they will never make more L360s, this is the cheapest way you can get your own aircraft certificate in fast glass and have a fast, fun airplane too.  I do not have the time or inclination to rebuild it myself.

I have intentionally let the N-registration expire.  Engine an accessories are sold so this is pretty much a bare-bones small tail short nose original.  Still has a pair of TIMCO shocks; new (less than 50 hrs) hydraulic pump; basic steam gages; stereo intercom.  I have boxes of documentation; a full set of fitted winter covers in addition to 2 ordinary canopy covers, and lots of other spare parts and goodies.

There is some residual value simply for the parts, but it would be a shame if someone didn't make her fly again.

Make me an offer, must include transportation at your expense.  I live in Cumming, GA.

Best regards,

Bill Reister
