Tapping is doable but I think it beats up the relays and likely the servos.
I'm clear I want slower but less clear two speeds are required.
I like the idea of less trim travel at high speeds though. (One runaway pitch trim at cruise speed is pretty convincing). That's a nice feature from vertical power.
