I got a detailed dump from one of the most upstanding, hardworking and sincere govt employees I have ever worked with on the sequester.

In addition to the 1-day-per-week furlough, the people in her area were told that they ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT do any work on unpaid overtime.  She heard of one office that implemented software on their blackbarries that shut them off in non-working hours.  She said that there was a range of reactions among employees but that for the most part they felt they had to comply.  And finally, she said that they have been forced to prioritize absolutely essential functions and stop doing other ones.

I suspect that FSDO inspectors have been forced to drop most inspections, since there is another route (DARs) that applicants can choose.

Hard to imagine the government could grind to a halt over such a small cut in the spending growth. Oh well, I heard if you show your EAA card the FAA will only charge $50,000 for the inspection. After all, it is their money!

All.

The FSDO inspector did a good job for me a couple of years ago. He did not require any kind of inspection guide.... only the normal documentation we are all familiar with. I agreed with everything he found and was happy for his expertise. He was contacted recently by an RV builder and he advised him he was no longer allowed to do inspections because of "sequester cuts". This inspector is a solid guy and it was obvious he was not buying the government BS either. I suspect using a DAR now is wise as the FAA management folks are trying to make lives miserable fearing cuts. As usual it will vary by FSDO.
