I also use the iPad 3. I have it on a suction cup mount on the side of the
canopy. I keep the friction just loose enough to rotate it when needed.

Many seem to say the full size IPad is too big to use in an LNC2. Been
using my IPad 3 in my 360 since they came out. Do it in hard IFR, on
approaches, VFR etc. I just rest it on my right leg and the center console.
Love it!! Yes, direct sun is an issue, but when the chips are down in the
clag, the clag itself is your friend to make the display perfectly readable.
In sunny conditions, I've got all day to reposition it. If you don't have a
sun shade, get one. See the Van's site, for the side-by-side versions.
They are great.
