Things are changing rapidly.   Touch screens now available at AFS   There is no need for an expensive certified display to get the quality needed for a cockpit display. Those are available today from a number of non-certified vendors.  And they are getting better and cheaper.  As I looked at Advanced's screens I realized they were just acquired by Dynon   

 

 These guys are doing a good job using a mass market display (on the iPad), but it will always be limited, by bright daylight, compared to the much more expensive certified ($$$$) aviation displays.
