I believe Colyn is referring to the article he wrote in the Feb. 2013 LOBO newsletter RE: the TCM engine class. I don’t think it is specifically about the IO-550. The newsletter is available on the LOBO website – www.lancairowners.net.
Another good source of information on the care and feeding of big continentals (and other engines) is Advanced Pilot Seminars (http://www.advancedpilot.com/). I’ve taken their online course – worth every penny for what I learned. I’ve heard the live course is even better.
