How about infant mortality.  One of mine was bad right out of the box.  The c=
rimp holding the coil wire had actual severed the wire.
Another famous cause is to keep the solenoid energized too long.  This can h=
appen if the pump breaker is pulled while the solenoid coils still gets powe=
r.
If there is any question, the rivets are easily drilled out in order to a lo=
ok.
