I got my rotary wing license in an R-22 as something to do while I was
building my first plane, a GlaStar. It kept me (somewhat) sane and in
the air having fun. It was a great experience and the quality of
instruction had me confidently flying Young Eagles just 4 days after
getting my ticket. I fly sailplanes and have a commercial seaplane
license but the heli-ticket cannot be beaten. Every Oshkosh I drool
over the mini-turbine Mosquito single-place kit. It is aptly named
because helicopters are like malaria, once infected you'll never shake
it. I say "Go for it!"
