I got an IPad about 18 months ago with the primary motivator being to utilize Foreflight. I have used that application since the acquisition and really, really like it. I use it on every flight (at least 6 - 8 times each month and would not consider a change to any other option. With that said I have never used WingX so I cannot offer any comparison information. I do have a pilot friend that uses WingX and he likes it...but I never have thought he is too smart:-)
Good luck with your new IPad and whatever application you end up with. The IPad is one of the most solid products I ever bought. I have almost completely stopped using my computer since buying it.
