I have a TSIO 550 from Performance Engines ordered as one of a set of three
with Fred Moreno and one other (see former LML posts of Fred's trials and
tribulations) Tempted to do the same as Bill Harrison but am forging ahead.  Doing oil
analysis and oil changes at 5 hour intervals during the early test flights.
Will pull rocker arms after about 20 hours and have them inspected.  Don't
have a lot of time on the engine  yet - still not flying - but am hoping the
miserable customer service already attested to is not a promise that the
engine is no good. So far it's running well - there were quite a few issues
with bolt and hose tightening.  Some from the factory and some from the
firewall forward work.  Still chasing down minor oil leaks in exhaust
flanges.

problems encountered by me and many others with this company, I have elected

not to use it. My trust in Performance is such that, even though the engine has never even been started, it is now in Tulsa being rebuilt as a Barrett Engine.

Has anyone had experience with Performance Engines in Laverne, CA?  If so, good or bad reviews?  If bad, who do you guys like out there for a TSIO -550

in a IV-P?  I have a quote from TCM for a stock engine, just exploring options.  I recall some bad stories last year but don't remember the shop names.
