The chelton screens need cooling.  They over heat and do exactly what you sa=
id.  I've flown several airplanes with the same problem but fixed by additio=
nal airflow.  The small Dynon does that too.  Most builders put avionics coo=
ling fans in but forget to let the hot air out.  You really have to have sma=
ll muffin fans on the glareshield to help avoid these kinds of issues. =20
If you only have say a Dynon as your backup and you lose cooling, then you w=
ill likely lose both primary and backup. =20
