My misinformation came from circa 1994 Lancair marketing information on the 550 where the word "Certified" was conspicusiously abscent. Once I made my engine decision I didn't pay much attention after that. I do have some questions and as a former Continental employee, you may have the answers. Why was the 550 developed? Was there a specific customer? Who? What aircraft besides the IV use the TSIO variant? Mike also brings up the very valid point that many engine problems are due to improper operation. Yes I said it, it is the pilots fault (GASP........). Bring on the electronic controlls!
