Sorry Dan, Neal Pobanz, known the world over as the Guru of the Bonanza Society, saw my engine and immediately warned me of the problems to come. While I was in his shop he took a half-dozen calls from Bonanza owners and mechanics, and his depth and breadth of knowledge was tremendous. His parting advice regarding the 550? Don't lean the damn thing, or you will spend $9000 for cylinders way before TBO (paraphased). Personally, I like Raytheon people. They run a fine operation, and the mechanics I have met were top shelf. But to say that the engine is great because the old Beech operation chose it....
