My mission is to fly in the mid to upper teens on long cross countries and I would really like to get a bit more power up there than my stock IO-320 is able to deliver. I am not after significantly higher speeds but would really like to have better climb performance up there and more ability to counter some of the mountain wave downdrafts we experience here over the plains of Eastern Colorado. Specific types of information I'm interested in at this point include: * Specific model of engine you are running * Which turbo system do you have? * Operational issues? * Maintenance / reliability issues? * Electronic ignition vs. mags? * Do you think it was worth it for you? Why or why not? Thanks! Dan Olsen N320DK Fort Collins, CO ------=_NextPart_000_006C_01CA1A03.A68664D0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

LML Gang,

I would like to hear from anyone in the LML community = who has experience (good or bad) with running a turbo-normalized Lycoming = IO-320 or IO-360 in their Lancair.  My mission is to fly in the mid to upper = teens on long cross countries and I would really like to get a bit more power = up there than my stock IO-320 is able to deliver.  I am not after significantly higher speeds but would really like to have better climb performance up there and more ability to counter some of the mountain = wave downdrafts we experience here over the plains of Eastern = Colorado.

Specific types of information I’m interested in = at this point include:

  • Specific model of = engine you are running
  • Which turbo system do = you have?
  • Operational = issues?
  • Maintenance / = reliability issues?
  • Electronic ignition = vs. mags?
  • Do you think it was = worth it for you?  Why or why not?

Thanks!
