Subject: p-factor is only 1/4 of "torque", which is a misnomer

This topic remains confusing because of the complex physics(classical mechanics) and the redundant aviator terminology.
It requires periodic review.
Here's a clasic source online:

I think the issue in this thread is torque, in the pilot sense...
The pilot's term "torque" has 4 components, one of which is P-factor
And another of which is "torque", in the physicist's sence of the word.
Gyroscopic precesion and slipstream also affect my 4P on takeoff,
(especially with a strong right crosswind on takeoff from OSH when you are watching for many other things!) If you rotate in pitch,, rapidly, for takeoff after smoothly applying power, which way will your nose swing in yaw? Be careful, its not a taildragger....
The lack of nosewheel steering has a big effect on technique- good discussion!
Slow transitions, rather than "step inputs" are always a good start in any flight test or experimental arena.
Thanks
Bill Miller
