A couple of weeks ago there where a couple of
request for
pictures of the way I installed the step on
my L IV.
I had no luck finding the pictures. I will describe
the way I
did the installation. The step is the one purchased
from
Lancair. Replace the bolt that serves as the pivot
point for
the step arm with countersunk bolt so the plate can
be
flush mounted to the gear box. Use a board as
a mockup
(and later as a template) to attach the step
mechanism to.
I mounted my step so with it extended it is 5deg.
back
from vertical in the locked down position. I moved
the step
back about 10". I also used an E series Linear
Actuator
from AEI to raise and lower the step. So far the
step worked
every time and is behind the acre of the gear leg.
