Read again, the "flag" is a prop blade. ;) Actually Hank, your rotary will be so smooth you may NEED a flag to tell when it's not running. For the record I concur with Curtis Wright that the rotary would make a good GA engine. The Mazda 13Bs Achilles Heal at high output is heat in general and oil temperature specifically. Running gasoline it is a poor candidate for turbo charging so you are limited to about 100-120 Hp per rotor at 6000 RPM. CW used a low compression direct injection and spark scheme (for Jet-A) they called Stratified Charged. Problem was it had high pressure injectors AND spark ignition. Timing between the two systems was tricky. If I had to put a car engine in an airplane, I'd start with a round motor.
