In my 600 hr Lancair, no solid control wire failures yet, but my logic is to have the carb heat spring go hot, not cold. Murphy says the wire will fail when you need it most, You're solid IFR over bad terraine, temps near freezing. The loss of power with it "on" is not much consequence to me. I had to put a locking control on mine, Spruce P/N 05-15000 Pg 150 in 98-99 Cat, after air flow kept pushing it in the cold position in the situation above. One of those never again deals, I now use carb heat before going into any cloud... FUEL MANAGEMENT: About Scott Kruegers missle on "hearing the Facet Pumps speed up when the wing tank is empty" By taking the clear polyurathane tubing through the instrument panel to create a viewing window, bubbles are a dead giveaway to empty wing tanks..No gauges required, if you time the fact pumps, (mas o menos 0.7 gal/ minute both on) Something for your PAX to do, keep track of each pumping cycle. With 30 gal total in the wings, I know I have about 42 minutes total pumping time. So, by filling the 12gal day tank near the end of pump time, I've got more than IFR Reserves and no nagging fears about gauges.. dpske@teleport.COM Public Access User -- Not affiliated with Teleport Public Access UNIX and Internet at (503) 220-1016 (2400-28800, N81) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML website: http://www.olsusa.com/Users/Mkaye/maillist.html Builders' Bookstore: http://www.buildersbooks.com/lancair Please send your photos and drawings to marvkaye@olsusa.com. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
