I have read the response from the maker of the Smart Switch and unless I
still misunderstand something it falls short on one crucial point. You have
to use the timed mode if more fuel is in the main tanks than the header
tank. This means that you would still have to monitor the header tank or you
run the risk of running it dry. There is no reduction in workload which is
the whole idea to begin with. The inclusion of this feature would make it a
desireable unit but until then, I vote for Lanza's design that include the
other features mentioned in my earlier email. Lanza's unit does not shut off
when mains run dry, so basically a combination of the two units is optimal.
