It is good for sound and heat insulation. They used to sell a better product that had thick aluminum foil instead of the mylar on the non-adhesive side. I have used it to protect fiberglass cowls from exhaust pipe heat. It is on the crossover pipe of my chevy hot rod to protect the oil pan from heat soaking. Fabulous stuff!
