My friend just converted from the VM1000C to the "new" VM1000C which has JPI EDM 900 guts, every pinout is the same as a standard JPI EDM 900.  When he switched units, he had to replace all his Vision probes, senders, etc. with the JPI parts.  A big expense in any engine monitor is the variety of probes.  One possible way to walk away from Vision would be to find another engine monitor that's compatible with the Vision probes.  For example, if the MVP 50 is compatible with the Vision probes, you could just purchase the box at a significant discount.
