Hi John and all other with VM1000
problems!
I have this problem installaed in my Lancair
IV panel and my electric mechanic Sune Nilsson has following to say about
it:
We have had some problem with this unit and also tried to get some support
from the Vision people but my experience is really bad. They often donīt even
answer a mail and they seems not to be interested to give any suport at
all.
1. If you already have this equipment installed I think you should go on
and give it a try.
2. You donīt need to calibrate any sensors like CHT, EGT, oiltemp,
fulepressure and so on because the DPU-unit (Digital Processing Unit) can
handle this if you are using the sensors that belong to the VM1000 kit. If you
want to have a checklist put in to the system you problably must contact the
Vision.
3. I donīt know anything about the JPI EDM 900 or any other system tha
can be replace into the same panel cutout.

Greetings,
I had a panel built several years ago for my Legacy. This panel
included a VM1000 engine monitor system. I am being told by some that I
should replace the VM1000 before I fly because Vision Microsystems' support of
the product is questionable since being acquired by JPI. For those of you
who now own a VM1000 I have these questions:
1. Do you find this to be the
case?
2. Will I be able to successfully calibrate
my VM1000 without support from Vision Microsystems?
3. Is there another engine monitor system
(perhaps the JPI EDM 900) that will drop into my present panel cutout for the
VM1000?
I am getting closer to flying (possibly this summer), and don't want to be
caught by surprise with an engine monitor I can't use. I also have the
Vision Microsystems fuel gauge.
Thank you in advance for any recommendations.
