Byron. With regard to flushing your hydraulic lines and cylinders, you should "bite the bullet" and also rebuild your cylinders now.If your system is that contaminated, the o-rings in all your cylinders will fail prematurely, if they're not leaking already. You may as well remove and rebuild them now as part of the cleaning process. I obtained rebuild kits from Lancair last Spring and rebuilt all mine. It's not difficult, once you get into it. Flushing the lines shouldn't be difficult either, provided that you're properly set up for it. I would obtain a large plastic "squeeze" bottle with a sharp tip (you can find them in K-Mart,the one's sold for dispensing ketchup).Use a length of 1/4" Tygon (same as for your static lines) to attach the squeeze bottle to an individual line for flushing. Then attach a length of Tygon at the other end of the line to be flushed and route it into an empty bottle to receive the hydraulic fluid. As an alternative, for some(or all)of your tubing, you could thread a length of thin lockwire through it, then attach a small piece of cloth, wetted with hydraulic fluid and pull it back through. Mechanical wiping is necessary to remove all contamination and you'd obtain the best job using this method. Also, thanks for recommending the "vibrating" watch last August for use as a reminder to turn off fuel transfer pumps before overfilling the header tank (re: Great Watch for Lancair 320 Pilots, dated August 09, 1999). I had been looking for just such an alarm!
