Wouldn't it be a good thing to spray in a reactive/expansion foam between the subfloor and the contour of the underlying honeycomb? It seems this would insulate against noise, cold and exhaust heat and provide some measure of support for the floor, as well. The first thing which comes to mind is "Great Stuff" for use in drafty cracks around the house. Would this do the job and would it be safe to use? I would think a few expansion holes in the subfloor would have to be planned so the pressure of expansion/ooze could be relieved. This stuff sticks to everything. If a builder didn't want it to stick to something it may be a good idea to put down a plastic film or conduit for wires. I'm only thinking in two dimensions this morning and could use a third one from other builders.
