Per Bill N7WB's comments about fine threads in the aluminum.
I agree, Bill, as long as one uses a steel stop nut to capture the threaded
Al collar, the steel will take the load. If one only uses the fine threads
in the collar to aid in initial adjustment, and then cranks the stop nut
down tight against it, you have the best of both worlds. Reasonably easy
adjustment coupled with the right material to take the loads.
