Lancair is telling me that the 1101 is WAAS certified, but the freeflightsystems.com web site only says that the 1201 is WAAS certified. It doesn't mention the 1101. What is up here? >>> 1. Alan Adamson gave you an excellent explanation of the Freeflight. <<< 2) How does the TruTrack Sorcerer Autopilot compare with the STec 55X in capabilities? Which/what autopilot would you recommend based on your experiences? >>> 2. The Sorcerer Autopilot when connected through the Chelton will fly coupled VERTICAL guidance in addition to lateral on an ILS or GPS approach. I am not sure about the STEC. <<< 3) Which trim systems do you recommend for the IVP. I have heard about "Ray Allen" and "Precise Flight." Which do you recommend and why? >>> 3. I have the Precise Flight controller and the Ray Allen servos. I think they are one in the same system. The Precise Flight system includes a "crosshair" indicator for both rudder and elevator trim. Which is convenient. I think the Ray Allen has separate indicators. If you are using the Electronics International Engine Monitoring Unit (MVP50?) I think it has trim indicators displayed on the screen. <<< 4) Would you choose Garmin SL 30's or 40's and why? >>> 4. The Garmin SL30 will allow for the selection of frequencies directly from the Chelton. The SL40 will not. <<< 5) Why would someone spend the extra bucks to go with a Chelton Pro system rather than the Chelton Sport system? >>> 5. The Chelton Pro uses the Crossbow 500 AHRS which is proven and reliable but much more expensive. The Chelton Sport is using a new AHRS the Pinpoint. It is a replacement for the Crossbow 425 which failed drastically. The Pinpoint AHRS has proven to be very reliable during testing but they are not being delivered very quickly. You can get the best update on these systems from Kirk or Peter at Direct 2 Avionics. Bryan N132BB
