Several listers have commented that aft of the firewall is preferable- possible heat problems could occur firewall forward. I'd like to put my at the passenger foot area, but it just doesn't seem to fit. So am I going to regret putting it firewall forward?? Matt, Heat is an issue with almost anything installed forward of the firewall, BUT it's not necessarily a show-stopper. Consider putting a cooling shroud around your fuel pump and feeding it fresh air via a SCAT tube from the upper forward cowling area. The IV-series aircraft have such an installation around the gascolator. It's always possible to "heat soak" the pump/fuel system after shutdown, even with this setup, but if you mount it low on the firewall, it will be less susceptible to heat soak. BTW, I recently saw an aluminum AN-4 fitting fail on an IV-P turbo oil line. I'm going back to check that I don't have any AL fittings in/on the engine. I don't think firewall installations are as risky for vibration failures as things on or attached directly to the engine, but those older, gray haired folks do have lessons to pass along... Speaking of lessons, there are a very large number of -360's flying. You might ask others what they've done, and why. I always like to know the why... Bob Pastusek
